Wow!!! Nice to see Ted, the hero in the new movie Lorax on a one wheel motorcycle like ours. It shows again how the future inspires efficiency and innovation. One wheel implies less is more… green, balance implies technology and riding it inspires excitement and uniqueness.

RYNO Motors hits Late Night for the first time

Posted in Law Enforcement, News, Progress Updates with tags , on October 6, 2011 by RYNO Motors

Friday’s story in Sustainable Business Oregon sent our PR machine into high gear. We fielded a number of calls from media who wanted more details about our arrangement with the City. We will release more information as it unfolds.

In the meantime, that didn’t stop Jimmy Fallon from dropping us into his Late Night monologue on Monday, October 3. While he didn’t mention us by name, we haven’t heard of any other one-wheeled vehicles around town. Check it out at 3:10 into the episode. We are big fans of the show here at RYNO Motors and were excited to be mentioned, even as part of a joke. We can take it… What we were disappointed about was that it seemed the perfect time for Higgins and Fallon to start riffing and making sound effects. Perhaps we’ll have to take the show to them someday.

Ryno Motors announces Portland Police will test one-wheel EV

Posted in Law Enforcement, Progress Updates with tags , on October 6, 2011 by RYNO Motors

As reported in Sustainable Business Oregon on Friday, September 30, RYNO Motors has agreed to lease two pre-production bikes to the City of Portland with the purpose of evaluation with the Police Bureau or other divisions at their discretion. From the story, by Lee Van Der Woo:

The arrangement will cost the Portland Police Bureau $1 for two of RYNO’s prototypes, targeted to retail at about $4,200 each. Despite the fantastic deal, the arrangement is a win for RYNO, which will get considerable exposure as police scan the streets and navigate the beer festival on their design inspired by a child’s videogame.

Gawkers are proving critical to RYNO’s ramp-up to production. The company is looking for $600,000 — modified from $1.6 million in January — to start putting micro-cyles on the streets. It’s the first-of-its-kind as a single-wheeled vehicle, designed with a patent-pending auto-balancing system, steering and an integrated, software-controlled disc brake system.
